These documents are also available from the City Secretary. The first day to file an Application for Place on Ballot is January 18, 2023. The deadline to file an Application for Place on Ballot is 5:00 pm, February 17, 2023 at City Hall. If you think you are interested in running for a position, first read the Candidate Memo 2023, 2022 Handbook for Mayors and Councilmembers handbook, A Guide to Becoming a City Official, Election Code Chapter 141, and the Texas Ethics Commission First Steps for Candidates Running for a City Office. These documents will give you a brief overview of what is involved in running for office, as well as the duties of office. All relevant Texas Ethics Commission forms are provided below, but can also be found on their website.
